Jared Schwartz, Gerard Noir Composer

Jared Schwartz (he/him/they) welcomes you to the world premiere of the first episode of his Gerard Noir Universe, where everyone is revealing but also a bit deceiving. Jared created, wrote, and composed all seven episodes of Season One of Gerard Noir and is currently working on Season Two, as well as a separate opera about an important Austrian painter. He has also composed multiple song collections on the poetry of Rainer Maria Rilke, Mary Oliver, and many other poets.  As a queer person, he was also inspired to write a collection of songs for young adults outside of the heteronormative musical theater canon. Meet the CAST

  • Michael hewitt

    GERARD NOIR

    Michael Hewitt is an executive coach and performer. He helps men match their voice to their message and parse signals from noise to make more money. Onstage, he brings anti-heroes to life, making you want to root for the bad guy.

  • Sergio Mandujano

    TINKLE TED TINKUMS

    A tenor from Norwalk, CT, Sergio has performed most recently with Sarasota Opera in their 2023 Winter Festival. Previous roles include Tamino (The Magic Flute) and Nemorino (L’elisir d’amore) at Seagle Festival and Opera Memphis. Apart from opera, he has also found success in musical theatre in roles such as Burrs (The Wild Party), Adolpho (Drowsy Chaperone), and several others.

  • Sabatina Mauro

    PUISSI VAN SYLER

    Long Island native and Mezzo-Soprano, Sabatina Mauro is currently based out of Dallas, where she performs at The Dallas Opera, Opera Arlington, and many other local ensembles. Mauro has recently originated and debuted new roles, and has honed her skills as a baroque soloist in various works across DFW.

    MADAME M

    Mezzo Caroline Hewitt has won prizes from The Kurt Weill Foundation, Teatro Nuovo, and The Kristin Lewis Foudnation. Operatic roles include Cenerentola, Cherubino, Rosina, Stefano, Isoletta (La Straniera), Lucia (La gazza ladra) and Anna 1 (Die Sieben Todsünden). She can’t say no to gluten-free cookies.

  • OCTAVIO CARDENAS

    STAGE DIRECTOR

    Stage director Octavio Cardenas captivates audiences with his visionary, visceral, and physical style of directing. Born in the city of Guadalajara, Mexico, Opera News has praised him for creating “an immersive theater experience”.

  • MARY DIBBERN

    MUSIC DIRECTOR

    Pianist Mary Dibbern, a specialist in vocal accompaniment and opera coaching, has been Music Director of Education for The Dallas Opera since 2012. She is Artistic Director of Secular Music for St Matthew’s Cathedral Arts. Mary also has a successful international career as vocal coach and recital pianist throughout Europe, Asia and North America.

  • Vivienne Verges

    STAGE MANAGER

    Vivienne is an actor, writer, and aspiring comedian from Austin, TX. She is currently pursuing a BFA Acting degree from St. Edward’s University. Along with performing, Vivienne also has experience with prop and set building, as well as scenic painting. Vivienne is very excited to have the opportunity to stage manage the world premiere of Gerard Noir.

  • Kaylee Ostrominski

    COSTUME DIRECTOR

    Part-time fashionista/ seamstress and full-time marketing director, Kaylee has a passion for finding creative ways to tell a story to the masses. As a born and raised Austinite, she deeply loves giving new life to second-hand or vintage textiles. She brings her passion for sustainable clothing to the main stage for Gerard Noir’s costuming.
